Artist's Description

I was finally able to put pastel to paper to etch out the emotion on one of the victim's faces who is still at one of the shelters months after surviving Hurricane Dorian in Abaco.

Tears” - the beginning of a healing process; she is looking to a higher power for answers with faith that hope lies beyond the darkness.

The double portrait or diptych signifies that the tragedy of Hurricane Dorian has been compounded by a another crisis of global proportions – Covid 19.

Roshanne Minnis-Eyma

Bahamian artist Roshanne Eyma, daughter of artist and singer/songwriter, Eddie Minnis and Grace Minnis, was born on May 4, 1972. Her interest in art began early in life, growing up surrounded by a family of artists. She started painting seriously when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Queen's College, Nassau Bahamas, in 1988. She received awards in several local art competitions. She has also participated in a number of joint exhibitions with her father, Eddie Minnis, and sister, Nicole. A special highlight of her artistic career was the Minnis Family Retrospective Exhibition held at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas in Nassau from July to November of 2014.
